Objectivos

The course seeks to cultivate students’ mindset and skills in utilizing entrepreneurship to address sustainability challenges. Students will acquire knowledge about various forms, processes, and tools of entrepreneurship, along with an understanding of the pressing sustainability challenges and goals. The course is project-based, aiming to deliver a practical, hands-on learning experience exploring strategies employed by founders and entrepreneurs in creating new business ventures, with a strong emphasis on sustainability.

Programa

The course will cover the following topics: 1. Fundamental concepts in entrepreneurship 2. The entrepreneurial process: Lean Startup Methodology 3. Sustainability (the profit, the planet and the people) and Grand Challenges 4. Sustainable Entrepreneurship 5. Entrepreneurship main tools: Value Proposition Canvas, Validation Methods and Business Modelling. 6. Funding and talking to investors.

Método de Avaliação

Option A (Continuous Evaluation) – This option has two components: group work (60% of the final grade) and individual work (40% of the final grade). For the group work, students will primarily work in teams on developing and validating an original business idea. Teams must identify a sustainability problem, develop a solution, validate its assumptions, and design a business model. The minimum grade is 9.5. As for the individual work, each student must complete 2 quizzes covering the course topics. The minimum grade (average of both quizzes) is 9.5. Option B (Final Exam) – Students opting for this choice will undergo a comprehensive final exam encompassing all course content. The exam consists of open-ended questions and the analysis of a case study (100% of final grade) The Regimento Geral de Avaliação de Conhecimentos (RGAC) of ISEG prevails over any situation of doubt.
