Objectivos

- To develop communicative competence in English at the upper intermediate level (B2, Common European Framework of Reference, or above). - To foster awareness of the need for and improve command of professional terminology and genres in English in the fields of finance, accounting and business. - To stimulate critical thinking about the themes studied. - To foster the ability to work collaboratively in teams, which may be multicultural. - To foster awareness and self-correction of frequent mistakes in English.

- World economy and globalization; - Economic issues; - Public finance; - Money and banking; - Interpreting and explaining multimodal texts (graphs, figures, tables); - Analytical reports; - Analytical expositions.

Método de Avaliação

Classes will be interactive and require a high level of student participation. An integrated approach to the competences comprising communicative competence will be taken, with greater emphasis placed on the production skills. In-class activities will include individual, pair and group work. There will be regular homework. Evaluation comprises: - Portfolio of written assignments; - Oral presentation (in group); - Written test.
