Objectivos

(i) The topics covered in this course aim to provide a basic analytical grid to understand comprehensively the phenomena of innovation (technological, non-technological). (ii) The course aims to give the students an adequate comprehension of the complementary realities of the business company and the innovation system as a whole, taking into account the complex interactions that underlie the design, production and diffusion of innovations. (iii) In this context, the course aims to provide the necessary knowledge to characterize the institutions that influence the design, production and diffusion of innovations. (iv) In addition to providing students with a solid conceptual framework for analyzing innovation, the course provides information about the indicators and the most relevant statistical sources to carry out applied analyses of the pertinent topics.

Método de Avaliação

This course adopts a system of “continuous assessment”. Students are expected: to participate in classes and in the session for discussing two papers; to submit written assignments in relation to those two papers (25%); to have a final exam, which will take place in the date indicated in Fenix as “Regular assessment”. For those who didn’t participate in the “continuous assessment” system, or did not pass the regular assessment, or wish to have a better final mark in the course, there will be another exam, which will take place in the date indicated in Fenix as “Repeat assessment”. That exam will cover points 1 to 12 of the syllabus plus the topics analyzed in the session for discussing two papers.
