Licenciatura Bolonha em Management

The aim of the course is to present some statistical techniques which are widely used in Management, namely the linear regression model. After completing the course, the students should be able to: 1) use methods of inferential statistics to interpret data; 2) formulate simple probability models to interpret economic problems including the estimation and testing of parameters; 3) understand the assumptions underlying the linear regression model; 4) carry-out simple econometric or statistic studies using adequate software.

The students finishing the course must have learned: 1) how to use statistical methods to extract the relevant information from a data set; 2) how to specify simple probability models in order to explain economic facts and to estimate and test the crucial parameters; 3) the fundamental assumptions of the linear regression model for cross-section data; 5) how to develop simple and adequate econometric studies for cross-section data; 6) how to use the basic software to apply the studied techniques of statistics and econometrics; 7) the basic knowledge to follow the course of econometrics;
