Microeconomics 1 – Assessment Rules –  2022-23

There are two assessment possibilities: midterms tests plus regular (short) exam and repeat exam only. All tests and exams are closed book (no books or notes of any kind allowed).

Midterm tests plus regular exam

These are two midterm tests, 40 minutes each, covering Consumer Theory and General Equilibrium, and a short, 1 hour, exam covering Producer Theory only. The tests have a weight of 30% each in the final grade; the exam has a 40% weight. Two pass you need to get at least 7.0 marks in each test and the exam (and naturally 10 marks overall). If you fail to get at least 7.0 marks in each test you will not be able to take the regular exam. The tests will be on the 10th of October and 7th of November at 2 pm (Monday class). The regular exam is on the 16th of January.

Repeat exam

This is a two-hour exam covering all topics. If you took both midterm tests, they will still count with 60% weight overall if they improve on your exam grade; otherwise you just get the exam grade. The repeat exam is on the 3rd of February.

What you can and cannot use during tests and exams

In every test and exam you can use non-graphical calculators only. It is your responsibility to bring one with you; you cannot use graphical calculators, even if they have nothing stored in memory or if you have no other calculator with you. You must not look up any aid materials. All graphical calculators, mobile phones, tablets, and computers must be switched off and out of the way.

Fraud

Fraud in any assessment is punishable under Article 12 of ISEG’s General Regulations for Assessment of Undergraduate Degrees, Student Disciplinary Regulations of the University of Lisbon, and the general law, namely the Código dos Direitos de Autor e dos Direitos Conexos (copyright and related rights).
