There are three types of assessment:

1-    Continuous Evaluation

       a)    Exam 1 (E1):

              •    The exam is graded on a scale 0 to 20;

              •    The topics covered on this exam are going to be announced by mid-October;

              •     A minimum grade of 6 values is required to proceed;

              •    The exam time is limited to 70 minutes;

              •    Date: 25/10/2019 - 12h30

       b)    Exam 2 (E2):

              •    The exam is graded on a scale 0 to 20;

              •    This exam covers the topics detailed in the syllabus plan of the module that were not covered in Exam 1;

              •    A minimum grade of 6 values is required to proceed;

              •    The exam time is limited to 70 minutes;

              •    Date: 10/01/2020 - 09h00

       c)    Resolution of short practice exercises (RE):

              •    A list of 12 exercises will be available (usually once a week);

              •     The students have to complete 10 of these exercises to solve and to deliver to the lecturer;

              •    The deadline to hand each exercise is the end of the week after its publication (for example exercise 9 will be available during week 9 and students have to deliver it until Monday of week 11);

              •    Each exercise is worth 2 points (upon delivering 10 exercises, students will receive 20 points for their effort).

Final Grade: 40%*E1+40%*E2+20%*RE

Note: Students are excluded from the continuous evalution assessment if E1<6 or E2<6. In case E1<6, students are automatically moved to the regular assessment. In case E2<6, then the final grade is min(9,  40%*E1+40%*E2+20%*RE).

2-    Regular assessment:

       a)    Regular assessment exam:

              •    The exam will be composed of two parts (P1 and P2) that will be administered in one session;

              •    P1 covers the same topics as Exam 1 and P2 will be equal to Exam 2;

              •    Each part of the exam is graded on a scale 0 to 20;

              •    No minimum grade is required in each part;

              •    The exam time is limited to 140 minutes;

              •    Date: 10/01/2020 - 09h00

Final Grade: 50%*P1+50%*P2

Inportant notes:

The students only have to choose between the continuous evaluation or the regular assessment on the day of the regular assessment exam by mentioning it on the top of their exam. Additionally,

i)    students in continuous evaluation have to deliver Exam 2 after 70 minutes;

ii)    students in the regular assessment  have to deliver the regular assessment exam after 140 minutes;

3-    Resit Assessment:

This type of assessment is for students that have not met the pass criteria of the module in the continuous evaluation or regular assessment and for students that wish to improve their marks (melhorias).

              •    This exam covers all the topics detailed in the syllabus plan of the module.

              •    The exam time is limited to 120 minutes;
