A disciplina de Macroeconomia II tem como objecto de estudo o crescimento económico moderno, fornecendo os elementos conceptuais e os instrumentos analíticos fundamentais para analisar os factores do crescimento económico.

Pretende-se que os alunos, após frequentarem com sucesso esta unidade curricular:

• Entendam o significado de crescimento económico e os conceitos fundamentais com ele relacionados, e conheçam os principais marcos de evolução dos conceitos e teorias na história do pensamento económico;
• Tenham um bom conhecimento dos principais modelos de crescimento económico e a sua utilização para compreender e distinguir os diversos factores e as principais condicionantes do crescimento económico;
• Conheçam as principais fontes estatísticas e estejam familiarizados com os principais factos característicos do crescimento económico moderno, bem como sejam capazes de compreender e discutir questões atuais colocadas ao crescimento das economias.

Macroeconomics II is a course unit devoted to study modern economic growth by providing the conceptual elements, as well as the basic analytical tools for analysing economic growth factors.

Having completed this curricular unit, the aim is that students will:

• Understand the significance of economic growth and related basic conceptsand also know the main milestones in the evolution of the theoretical concepts of the history of economic thinking;
• Have a good understanding of the principle models of economic growth and their use to understand and distinguish the various conditioning factors of economic growth;
• Know about the main statistical sources and be able to recognise the principle characteristic facts of modern economic growth, as well as to be able to understand and debate current issues related to the growth of economies.
