The aim of this course is to provide the students with an introductory contact with concepts, ideas, models and issues within the scope of macroeconomics, i.e., related to the behavior of the economy as a whole and the flows that constitute it. The course addresses both short-term issues (e.g., economic cycles, inflation and unemployment) and long-term issues (e.g., economic growth, institutional and technological change or climate change), referring at each step to the economic policies that seek to address those issues. The learning process is based on the identification and analysis of economic problems in a way that beings abstract concepts and theories in relation to actual economic reality, at both the national and international levels.
