We solved several exercises related to the central limit theorem. We then discussed about the limiting distribution of the sample proportion and the sample variance, and looked through some examples.

We solved exercises related to the normal distribution approximation of the binomial distribution, exponential distribution and joint probabilities of continuous random variables. We then started to discuss about sampling distributions, the sampling distribution of the sample mean and the central limit theorem.

We first discussed different problems/applications of continuous random variables (given as homework in the previous week). We then proceeded to discuss about the normal approximation of the `binomial distribution, the exponential distribution, the joint distribution of continuous random variables, as well as how to calculate the first two moments of linear combinations of continuous random variables (Chapter 5 from Newbold's book), followed by examples.
