In Session 6, we will discuss the challenges that the current liberal order is facing in the political and social spheres and how the pandemics might have (or not) exarcebated the trends. In particular, we will discuss how the emergence of inequality is underming liberal democracies and helping the rise of authoritarism as well as how civil liberties are increasingly under threat by populist forces pushing for a more polarised and less free public space.
