We first discussed the homework (a few application exercises focused on the Poisson distribution, the hypergeometric distribution and the joint distribution of discrete random variables). We then moved to a discussion of the distribution of continuous random variables and focused on the the uniform and normal distribution. Application exercises were illustrated for these distribution. We learned how to use the table of the standard normal distribution.

We started the class by discussing the homework given a week ago (covering them material from a week ago discussed in class). We then continued to introduce the Poisson distribution, the hypergeometric distribution followed by application exercises. We also discussed about the joint distribution of discrete random variables and we looked at examined an application on portfolio investments.

We had a introduction into Statistical Methods with a focus on descriptive statistics, and we started to discuss about the distributions for discrete random variables (Bernoulli and Binomial) illustrating the usefulness of these in a couple if exercises.
