Dear All,

And that’s a wrap.

Many thanks for attending Lesson #12 and presenting your work in progress.

Hope you took good notice of everyone’s feedback and proceed to a much better Brief .

The deadline for the final version of the policy brief is the exam date, 22nd May, 18h00.

Please remember to follow the guidelines.

It was both a pleasure and a privilege to have all in class during this semester.

Love,

Ana

RMPP #11: International collaboration. Science Diplomacy. Big Science. EU Research and Innovation.

23 Abril 2025, 18:00 Ana Moutinho

Dear All,

Many thanks for attending Lesson #11. Please find attached the presentation

I understand it was a bit dense, and you’re getting all caught up in finishing the semester.

Please pay attention to slides 47-53 on European Research. They’re quite instructional.

We will briefly get back to EU policies next lesson, just before your presentations.

Also, if there is any clarification you would like on other subjects discussed in class, please bring it to the table.

On the topic of geopolitical change and research, the European Commission is taking it seriously and shielding democracy gains ground as a research priority:

Regarding the evaluation protocol, please mind that in case you’re opting for continuous evaluation, you are supposed to produce a final essay, in the format of a policy brief.

The deadline for the final version of the policy brief is the exam date, but there is an interim draft version to be handed in by the 27th April (23h59).

Next Wednesday, the 30th, you should present your brief to class, in a max of 3 minutes and the use of a max of 3 slides. We will debate it and ask questions, so that you can use this feedback to perfect the final version.

The topic can be of your choice, as long as in the scope of our course.

Best,

Ana

Dear All,

Please find attached the presentation for Lesson #10.
We talked post-award, Science for Policy and mechanisms for expert advice, the importance of innovation in public admin and, very important, how we should all train the disclosure of AI use in research and innovation.

Regarding the evaluation protocol, please mind that in case you’re opting for continuous evaluation, you are supposed to produce a final essay, in the format of a policy brief.

Project management - teams and budgets.

2 Abril 2025, 18:00 Ana Moutinho

Dear All,

Many thanks to those who attended yesterdays class, and I am truly sorry for the inconvenience of the rescheduling ☹.
Please find attached the presentation.

I suppose we did not advance as much as planned, and I will try to catch up next week, hopefully with a full room. There is a topic I would really like for us to debate, which is the use of AI and the disclosure options most often suggested by publishers and funders.

Meanwhile, enjoy your weekend between the showers and timid sunshine.
Best,
Ana
